THE TUILERIES • MAY 21 • 2 pm

After such a dreary (but beautiful) post on Tuesday, it is nice to see some color, huh? It hasn’t been a week since my last TIME AND PLACE post but I just can’t help it. The bright colors, wispy fabrics, and happy patterns all over the internet are taking me to some really fabulous places.

These pieces sent me off to an imaginary stroll in the Tuileries. The date is May 21st, and I have been in Paris with my husband and another couple for 3 days now (staying at L’Hotel, of course.)

After our longest lunch to date we skip over the bridge and walk the gardens. We would spend an easy hour people watching, snapping pictures, and reminding ourselves how lucky we are to get to go and do.

The last time I was in Paris I packed my typical all-black bag. But because this is a day dream, a little color is encouraged. I would bring…

Tailored pieces in bright colors, like this Steven Alan Car Coat. How incredible is that red?    •   The always clever but still classic Chloe bag    •   A yummy pair of D’Orsays in Linen   •   the book that inspired the trip   •   some spunky blue glasses    •  An overly-feminine botanical blazer (I just snagged this at Hampden Clothing. I could not be any more complimentary)   •   A set of little gold rings to stack   •   The new navy Equipment Blouse. (Also check out the Horse print… Incredible)   •   A pair of floral DVF pants   •   Some sweet silvery flats  (also love the nude)    •   And of course, the statement necklace

Packing my bag for May

Though it is a little flighty of me act like the current season does not exist, the thought of warm weather is just too tempting right now. Whenever I see a fun little dress or perfect sandal, I immediately go into a day dream, packing my bag for the month of May. I don’t know where I would go quite yet, but here is what I would bring…

“This striped dress is perfect for a farmer’s market trip.  •••  Jenni Kayne, you truly are amazing. Penny loafers + D’Orsay? I am so glad shoes were your calling.   •••   I have yet to tire of the evil eye    •••  I was asked for a report on my Catina Sandals and I must say they are a go. Very comfortable and well made. I also love these Joie ones.   •••    Floral Playsuits + Crosshatch Bags say garden party with basil gimlets.   •••   I would overwear this Sculpted Tank and Printed Crepe Shorts outfit   •••   This spotty dotty dress may have to come home with me. Sea is quickly becoming one of my favorite designers.”

TIME & PLACE

oct-14

This TIME & PLACE is a little more personal today. This past weekend marked the end of my first week in Chapel HIll, NC. I can honestly say I like the city more and more as each day passes. We have had some wonderful meals (The new kid on the block, Venable, is great fun), gotten to pop into some charming local shops and enjoyed the chilly Fall weather (when it wasnt raining) on afternoon walks and day trips to Raleigh and Durham. That we may find ourselves living in Chapel Hill next year (Nelson finds out where he matches this March) is now a happy possibility and I am so happy I made the trek up to see the city for myself. We leave on Thursday so I plan to spend the rest of the week working and checking a few more experiences off my city list.

WHAT TO WEAR: CHAPEL HILL  •  SUNDAY BRUNCH  •  EARLY AFTERNOON

This incredible Boucle coat by Rebecca Taylor tops my wish list (also have my eye on this little pink number)  // Dainty Gold earrings (also love these knots and these little bows) and chunky bracelets are an always item in my opinion  //  The perfect bucket bag  // Oversized shades and a cute case for sipping mimosas outside  // Cool coated jeans or easy leggings to go underneath  // A great pair of leather booties.
